Marat Daukayev Theater Nutcracker Production 2007

We presented four performances of the Nutcracker in December 2007 at the Aratani Japan America theater in downtown Los Angeles to the delight of holiday audiences. We hope to see you next December for our 7th annual presentation.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s emotional and sweeping music, we are proud to present the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker each year:

It's Christmas with a huge tree and many dancing guests.  Young Clara's godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, makes magical toys and gives her a special gift of a Nutcracker.

That night, Clara sneaks downstairs to get her Nutcracker from under the tree.  She falls asleep and is whisked into a Christmas fantasy where her Nutcracker grows to a human size.  When attacked by the horrid Mouse King, the Nutcracker Prince tries valiantly to defend Clara, but is struck down in the battle.  Clara in turn saves her Prince by throwing her shoe at the Mouse King and defeating him.

Running to her Nutcracker, Clara kisses him, making him human.  Then she and her Prince are whisked away through the Enchanted Forest, where they see dancing snowflakes and other wonders.

At the Sugar Plum Fairy’s castle the Prince reveals how Clara saved his life and the whole court greets her with acclaim.  Delicacies are presented to her by Spanish, Arabian, and Chinese dancers.

In the finale, the courtiers of the Kingdom kneel in homage to Clara for rescuing their prince.  Clara’s dream fades away as the entire court dances a grand waltz and bids her farewell.

We look forward o seeing you in December 2008 for our 7th production. Please retrun for further information.
